Early Ages
Channing Tatum was born April 26, 1980, in Cullman, a small town in Alabama. His father Glenn Tatum was a builder, and his mother Kay Tatum (nee Faust) worked in the airline. The actor is quite secretive about everything about his family: according to some reports, he was one of eight children, but only one of his sisters, Paige Tatum, a model and actress, and his half-brother Christopher Anderson, an actor and singer, is reliably known.
When Channing was 6 years old, the family moved to the suburbs of Pascagoula, a Mississippi town on the Gulf Coast, and the boy grew up in a rural setting on the Mississippi River. As a child, he suffered from attention deficit disorder and dyslexia, so he struggled in school. To help the child learn, his doctor prescribed him medication, which made him feel as if he had “no soul. The actor later said in an interview: “I will never do that to my child.”
To channel the physical hyperactivity of Channing, his parents actively engaged him in sports: he attended the section of soccer, baseball, athletics and kung fu.
A few years later, the Tatumas moved again, this time to the city of Tampa, Florida. Here Channing attended the local Gaither High School, and then his father gave him a choice – he could go to military school or to high school at a private school. The young man chose Tampa Catholic Private High School and successfully graduated in 1998, winning varsity athlete of the year honors and receiving an athletic scholarship to attend Glenville State College in West Virginia. Soon after starting college, however, Channing became disillusioned with his studies, returned home, and began trying to find himself by taking various jobs.
For less than two years, the young man managed to try himself as a builder-roofer, mortgage manager, veterinary assistant and clothing salesman, and then got a job as a stripper dancer in a nightclub, taking a stage name Chan Crawford. After that, he tried to start a professional career as a dancer and in 2000 he auditioned and starred in Ricky Martin’s “She Bangs” music video.
Modeling career
After a successful music video shoot, Channing was discovered and invited to work in the fashion industry as a model for high-profile clients such as Giorgio Armani and Abercrombie & Fitch and Men’s Health magazine.
This was followed by work in TV commercials, and a series of commercials for Mountain Dew and Pepsi lemonade campaigns brought him particular fame.
In 2001 the young man was named one of the “50 Most Beautiful Faces” by Tear Sheet magazine. Between 2000 and 2005 Channing was involved in a multitude of projects including the ad campaigns for the Nautica wristwatch, the iconic Dolce & Gabbana, American Eagle Outfitters and the audacious Emporio line by Armani. He has appeared in the pages of Vogue, Out, Elegance, and Citizen, and has worked under contract with major modeling agencies in Miami, Milan, and New York.
Movie Career
Channing Tatum’s film debut was in 2004 in the popular series “CSI: Miami Vice,” where he starred in an episode. This was followed by several other small roles – in the films “Coach Carter” (2005), “Supercross” (2005), “Crazy” (2005)
At this time, a young man seriously into the cinema and decided to leave the career of the model. And he did not regret it: he was soon invited to the main male role in the youth comedy “She is a Man” (2006) based on William Shakespeare’s play “Twelfth Night. In addition, Channing personally received several awards and nominations for Best Supporting Actor at various festivals. The next successful picture, in which he starred, was the sequel to “Step Up – 2” (2008), but in it Channing had only a small role – his character from the first film appeared only in the episode. He then played a major role in the film “The Forced War” (2008), but the picture failed at the box office, despite the positive assessment of critics, who called it “deep and sincere.

According to the actor, only starting with this picture, he really liked the art of dramatic acting and began to put it above dancing, fighting scenes and other “ways of showing your body.

Another prominent work of the actor was the main role in the action film “Assault on the White House” (2013), after which critics wrote: “The picture undoubtedly wins thanks to the energy and chemistry of the main characters, but director Roland Emmerich still spoiled the impression with his narrative clichés and torn action scenes”.
Another memorable work was Lana and Lily Wachowski’s sci-fi action film “Jupiter Ascending” (2015), which starred Channing Tatum alongside the charming Mila Kunis. Critics didn’t rate this space opera too highly, but the younger generation liked the flying handsome hero with pointy ears. As a result, the actor received nominations at the Kids’ Choice Awards, the Teen Choice Awards and the Golden Raspberry Anti-Prize.
Tatum’s undoubted success was his participation in the spy action film Kingsman: The Golden Ring (2017), where he joined a great ensemble cast with stars like Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Halle Berry and Jeff Bridges. The film grossed more than $400 million at the box office, and critics rated it higher than the first film, “Kingsman: The Secret Service” (2015), which was also very popular
