CHILDHOOD AND YOUTH YEARS
John Mark Galecki was born in the small Belgian town of Bre, on the outskirts of which the NATO airbase was located at that time. His father, Air Force officer Richard Galecki, served there. Mother, Mary Lou – loan consultant. By the way, many pronounce the name of the actor as Galecki, since his father’s ancestors were Poles. From his mother, Irish and Italian blood was transmitted to him.
When Johnny was three years old, her parents returned to the United States and settled in the village of Oak Park in a suburb of Chicago. The family soon expanded: the boy had a brother Nick and sister Allison.
Johnny grew up an active and inquisitive child, was keenly interested in what was happening, easily made contact with others. At the age of seven, he first appeared on the stage of the Goodman Theater in Chicago, and at eleven he was nominated for an honorary theater prize. Unfortunately, at school, he could not boast of the same successes, and at the age of fourteen, he completely abandoned his studies and left home. By that time, he already worked a lot in the theater and on television and considered himself old enough and independent to live separately from his parents.
ACTING CAREER
For the first time in the movie, Johnny appeared at twelve years old, playing a cameo role in the film “One Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon” (1988). The debut was successful: the boy not only showed himself perfectly in the frame, but also gained experience with Matthew Perry and River Phoenix, colleagues on the set. This was followed by work in the full-length comedy “Christmas Holidays” (1989) with Chevy Chase.
The turn came to the series. Having appeared in the series “The Horse” and “Hardball”, Johnny successfully passed the casting for the role of David in the TV series “Rosanne” (1988-97), which by that time had already beaten all the records of popularity on American television. His game was so liked by the audience and film critics that the contract with the actor was extended until the closing of the sitcom.
The character David was very interesting, probably because I got into his skin. At first, I was invited to a small episodic role. But after one episode, I was invited to play in three more. In the end, I stayed for three years.
At the same time, Galecki starred in the series “Flower” (1991-95), where he fell with the light hand of a childhood friend, actress Mayim Bialik. A few years later, Johnny repaid the girl with the same coin, having put in a good word for the producers of The Big Bang Theory for her.
In 1993, the young man appeared in the thriller “Sudden Rage”, and a year later was awarded the Young Artist Award as the best aspiring actor. From that moment on, Galecki’s career, and so quite successful, began to rapidly gain momentum. Despite the fact that he was not offered the main roles, the paintings in which Johnny took part became world hits and rental leaders. Among them are the famous “Mr. Bean” (1997), “I Know What You Did Last Summer” (1997), “Alien Ticket” (2000), “Vanilla Sky” (2001) and many others.
But the finest hour in his creative life was the role of the physicist Leonard in the series The Big Bang Theory. Their duet with Jim Parsons, the performer of the role of Sheldon, instantly won the hearts of viewers in all corners of the planet, and the series for 12 seasons gathered at the screens a multimillion-dollar audience.
While the Big Bang Theory was going on, the actor rarely took on other projects. In 2008, Johnny in the company of Will Smith appeared in the comedy “Hancock”, in 2011 he played himself in the TV series “Handsome” and took part in the fantastic thriller “Time” with starring Justin Timberlake. In 2017, viewers were able to evaluate the actor’s skill in the “Calls” horror, the third part of the famous franchise of Javier Gutierrez.
Johnny Galecki Girlfriend
In The Big Bang Theory, young scientist Leonard, performed by Galecki, falls in love with Penny’s neighbor, played by actress Kaley Cuoco. As often happens, the movie novel soon went beyond the set, the young people were even going to get married, like their on-screen heroes.
Unfortunately, this did not happen, and after two years of romantic meetings, the couple broke up. Johnny and Kaylee managed to maintain a warm relationship; they were still filming partners and spent a lot of time together. In 2013, Kuoko even invited her ex-lover to her wedding with Ryan Sweeting.
Johnny, too, was not alone for long: from 2012 to 2014, he met actress Kelly Garner.
In the summer of 2018, it became known that Johnny was dating Alaina Meyer, who was 22 years younger than him. In September, the couple confirmed their relationship by appearing together on the People’s Choice Awards red carpet, and in May shared joyful news with fans.
Not so much is known about the beloved actor: she works as a production manager, loves horses, tattoos and motorcycles.
Alaina’s father is John Stryker Meyer, a former special forces officer and author of three books on the Vietnam War.
